Silence can impart an extreme amount of tension to a composition. This composition is a sibling piece to Skin Under Stress. In both pieces the ideas of tension are explored. One has unrelenting bass drums and this one uses silence, stillness, and space to create similar outcomes. The piece begins with long amounts of silence and single pitches. It gradually grows to thicker textures and complex harmonies.
